The cardiovascular, toning, conditioning and motor skill enhancements gained through this program makes fitness Muay Thai a tremendous option to other weight loss programs. (CLASS FOR BOTH MEN & WOMEN WHO ARE SIGNIFICANTLY OVERWEIGHT) Muay Thai for the Beginner: During this phase of training you will learn to punch, elbow, clinch, knee, and kick. You will also learn fighting drills, and basic fighting combinations. All of this is done with the use of Thai pad drills, Focus mitt drills and the heavy bags. Muay Thai for Advanced Students: The advanced Muay Thai lessons are appropriate for students who have trained for at least 6 months in our Beginner Muay Thai Class. This advanced class will teach students competition strategies and tactics, while incorporating advanced techniques and combinations. Muay Thai for Competition: Want to Train? - Want to Fight? Muay Thai competition is awesome, but its not for everyone! - Although its not a required part of our classes, we do offer the student a chance to compete when we feel that they are ready and skilled enough to compete. We currently have several fighters who compete in both light contact and full contact Kickboxing and Muay Thai shows. Muay Thai for Women Only: Lose Weight! That's right...Lose those unwanted pounds! Invest just two to three hours a week to this program and improve the quality of your life. You do not have to be fit or strong to start making a difference in your life and overall fitness level. You'll feel great while improving your strength, self-confidence, fitness level, and overall wellbeing from hitting the pads. Train for health and fun, to cultivate your coordination, poise, confidence, self esteem and learn to defend yourself at the same time while having fun! (CLASS FOR WOMEN ONLY WHO ARE SIGNIFICANTLY OVERWEIGHT) All techniques will originate and end in this stance. Left leg should be in the front (LEAD LEG) Right leg is behind (REAR LEG) Feet are at shoulder-width apart. Lead leg and foot is pointed forward. Point the rear leg and foot a little to the right at approximately a 45-degree angle. Weight should be distributed evenly between both legs. The left hand is approximately 8 inches from face and held at eyebrow level (LEAD HAND). The right hand is approximately 6 inches from face and held at cheek level (REAR HAND). The chin should be down and tucked at all times, even during techniques and movement. Always maintain a slight bend in the knees. Start and end in the Muay Thai stance. FORWARD ADVANCE From Muay Thai stance, step forward with your lead leg. Right rear leg will follow. End in Muay Thai Stance. BACKWARDS RETREAT From your Muay Thai stance, step backwards with the rear leg and left lead leg will follow. End in Muay Thai Stance. LATERAL LEFT From Muay Thai stance, step directly to the left with lead leg and right rear leg will follow. End in Muay Thai Stance. LATERAL RIGHT - From Muay Thai stance, step directly to the right with right rear leg and left lead leg will follow. End in Muay Thai Stance. TURN LEFT (QUARTER) From the Muay Thai stance, step one full step forward with right rear leg. Turn Ό to the left by pivoting on both the left and right balls of your feet. End in Muay Thai Stance. TURN RIGHT (QUARTER) From Muay Thai stance, step back and to the left with the right rear leg. Turn Ό to the right by pivoting on the heel of the left foot and the ball of the right foot. End in Muay Thai Stance.
